WELCOME!!
Thank you for exploring 3.21, LEARN!
The purpose of 3.21, LEARN is to utilize various methods and strategies I have found to be the most effective in teaching children with Down syndrome. The lessons are designed to help both verbal and nonverbal children soar with success as they learn basic reading and math skills!
I taught second grade prior to having children of my own and becoming a stay at home mom. During my teaching career, I had a passion for teaching reading. I was honored with being appointed the school's Instructional Team Lead in Literacy which provided the opportunity for me to share my passion for reading instruction through peer mentoring, contributing to curriculum development, and leading professional development in-services both within my school and across the school district.
My oldest daughter, Lily, has Down syndrome. My goal was to ensure Lily would enter kindergarten academically strong so her teachers would immediately recognize her potential and keep the ball rolling. During Lily’s kindergarten fall conference, her teacher shared with me that Lily was academically on par with the other students entering kindergarten. WOOHOO!
I began tutoring children with Down syndrome ranging from ages two to six years old and I found they all excelled using the same strategies I used to teach Lily.
3.21, LEARN is systematically designed to experience immediate success every step of the way allowing for confidence and learning to soar!
